Thursday Fiction 163: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

I knew what scared this Frederique the most, she didn't want to be like her mother, just like I didn't want to be like mine. I closed the back and kept in on the far side from the door, as if to place myself between it and any possible threat. There was traces of fire on it and I realised that this was the reason why my other self had been in the fire. She had gotten in trouble to rescue her diaries. I wonder if I would ever do that, and I knew instinctively that the answer was yes. I needed to get everything on computer before something as drastic as a fire happened. I wanted my data safe.
I lay on the bed and curled as a ball bringing my knees to my chest. This Frederic needed a lot of comfort. I won't let her close to you, I whispered to my other self in my mind. Call me when she is close and I won't let her hurt you again. You're going to do great, we are all going to do great.

My eyes fluttered open and I was almost sure that my other self had fallen asleep while I was over there. I blinked three time and even the dimmed light in my room seemed very bright.

Wednesday Snippet 166: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“You already have that very annoying little brat to entertain you, you can't possibly want this one too, what are they? Pets? Plus look at him, he is half dead and his powers are already contained by just those ridiculous gloves” the short haired demon said.
In the large armchair next to him, the third demon pulled up his glasses on his noise with a little annoyed slapping of his tongue as if he didn't like to be disturbed during his reading, without even take his eyes of the pages to look at Kamaril. Kamaril found it a little bit insulting not to be the center of everyone's attention.
“I'm no pet,” Kamaril said.
He pushed his water out in his hand but for all answered the gloves started to heat and white steam came out blurring his vision. That wasn't a smart move at all, damn gloves. They were going to pay for that as soon as he would have a free hand. These were painful as well, he needed to behave if he didn't want to end up with permanent burn scars.
“Those are not the demons you know,” the demons with the long hair started.
Kamaril felt that he liked to explain that and was somehow proud of it, something he could turn to his advantage. But he knew what he knew and those guys were in the fight with him the day before, just they were dead.

"Of course, I saw them leave a long time ago with their suitcases and boxes," Brownie added very seriously.
Ayokunle giggled.
"Spiders don't have suitcases."
Brownie felt a bit relieved to see him smile again.
"Of course they do, let me see." Brownie stood up, took the little boy in her arms and walked to the bookshelves.
"Where is it? Oh yes, here." She took a big book from the shelves, went to sit on Ayokunle's bed and turned the pages.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 168

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week

“What about dancing?” the man said.
“I’m tired,” the girl answered with a child voice.
“That’s all good, you’ll dance even better,” the man answered.
The girl didn’t look at him, she seemed to concentrate on the street’s paving not to fall. The way he was holding her close and up was making it hard from her to walk. I followed them from far away not to be noticed but close enough to be able to jump on them when I would have the opportunity. I didn’t want to let them walk to far from the river. The body would be too hard to carry and I knew that after drinking their blood I wouldn’t be so keen to clean up the mess as I was now. They finally stopped in a dark corner and the man fumbled in his coat pocket to find the key. It was a hotel with a dirty façade. He was making it easy for me, that was one of the places where I could enter without any problem.
“Where are we?” The girl asked yawning and looking around.
“In the dancing place sweet heart,” the man said putting the key in the locked and kissing her in the neck.
She pushed him away as if the sensation was alien to her. She didn’t seem to be willing to do anything with him tonight.
“But I don’t hear any music,” the girl said.
“You will be the one singing,” the man answered pushing her in the room.
She looked around panicking.
“What is this place? I want to go home, dad, what is this place?” she said has he pushed her on the bed, and he threw his coat away. She tried to get back up quickly but her movements were clumsy due to the tiredness and the drinks she had, he maintained her on the bed. The door was closing itself slowly but I kept it slightly open to watch.
“Dad,” she pleaded weakly has he jumped on her like a beast.
“Why are you calling my dad now when you always refused to do it before? I wanted to be your dad and I was in love with your wicked mother,” the man said. “She left with all my money and abandoned you with me. A man gotta live, this is going to hurt.”
He slid his hands under her dress as she tried to crawl away from him.
