Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 431

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

 

"You said not to let anyone else have it," Irina whispered. "Now I can see why."

I pushed her hand away from my neck and winked at her. I still needed blood and I had the perfect meal in front of me.

"Gather everything you can but don't make it too, heavy, I'll take care of him."

She stood and I placed myself between her and my guard.

"Looking for something," I said.

"How?" He looked past me to Irina.

"I'm here," I said and I jumped on him.

He was really weak. I would have expected more resistance but he lacked practice. Carrying a sword wasn't enough to make you know how to use it, you needed practice to become a warrior.

"You're pathetic," I said twisting his arm and breathing in his neck. "After mature reflection, I won't need to carry you around, a little girl and a werewolf who can't control himself are a lot better than you will ever be, your poor father must be so disappointed in you."

"My father was a fool who believed that he could talk and learn from the likes of you," he said.

I fell on the floor, it was the same sensation as with the boy's blood but I didn’t understand why he could still stand. I was feeling nauseous, everything seemed darker.

"You are way too trustful," he said grabbing Irina by the arm and throwing her at me. "Now you are going to die and we will take care of the humans you love so much.

"No, leave him alone," Irina threw herself around my neck and I just had time to see the reddish light coming from the philosopher stone as she put it against my neck.

"I'll remember never to trust a Jäger," I said.

He was searching Irina's bag for the stone but the stone was already acting on me. I could see things more clearly suddenly. I took a deep breath but I didn't need to breath anymore. It was restoring my strength and feeding the vampire side of me. Irina looked at me in the eyes and smiled. I knew what she saw. The yellow eyes, the sharp fangs, the pale skin that characterised me as a vampire. I was feeling every single of my muscle tense. It was too late for him.

He gave me a little bottle.

"This should wake you up."

I look at the bottle suspiciously and opened it. I recognised the smell. That was something I had already seen in Nicolas office, something he had used on me when testing the effect of garlic.

"There was garlic in the boy's blood? I didn't recognize the taste," I said.

"Tones but a special variety," he answered.

"Drink it first," I said giving him the bottle.

He took a sip from it.

"See there is no danger," he said smiling.

I smelled the suspicious liquid. It didn't smell like any poison I knew. I took a sip too. It had a fruity taste, not so bad. My legs just weakened under me.

"What did you give me?" I asked.

"What do you think?" he said smiling.

"I know what they gave to Jarek," he said.

"Now you are talking a language I can understand, tell me more," I pushed the furniture in front of the door just as it was about to open.

"I know another way out, I know what they gave to the wolf, I know everything," he said.

"That's a start." I jumped to the table and took as many products as possible, putting them on the large fabric under the torture tools.

"What are you doing?"

"Those are coming with me, I need everything I can to fix Alexei," I said.

My guard walked to the cupboard and tool some small vials as well which he put in his pockets.

"You are going to need this too."

"Do you have horses?" I asked.

"No, we'll have to walk," he said.

"Come on, I'm sure you can do better than that," I said.

"Take it or leave it," he answered.

"He made it," I answered while Irina disappeared behind a cupboard.

"Take me with you." It was my guard, he was moving a large shelf in front of the door and I moved quickly to help him.

"I don't know where you are going but take me with you, I can't stay here, not with them not with people dying for no reason," he said.

"What's in there for me?" I asked.

"I'm strong, you are traveling with a child who can't help you," he said looking toward Irina's hiding place. I could see her feet under the cupboard, the Jäger would see them too.

"Irina is highly educated, she can speak and translate several languages, she has very tasty blood for when I need a snack and apparently now she can even see the future, and on the top of everything she is small, easy to carry and doesn't make me spend too much food to feed her."

"I can be better than the wolf at least," he said.

"Alexei is an expert in horses and know exactly how to go where I want to go and on the top of it he is a wolf which interest me highly for private purposes," I said unimpressed by the way my guard was trying to impressed me.

"Then I want you to hide," I said, "I'll fight them."

"You just hide and in case anything bad happen you get out of here without letting anyone know."

I gave her the bag she had carrier with her.

"I believe you took my money and the diary, go back to Praha and ask for Nicolas Flamel in the golden street, tell him I sent you and bring him this." I gave her the philosopher stone.

"But I want to help," she said.

"You helped enough Irina," I said. "If something bad happens I want you to be safe. Nicolas will help you, I promise."

My guard looked at us one last time and started to run to the door. It was a bit later than I had expected but his hesitation had still bought me some times. I was ready to fight, and sure that Irina at least would be safe.

"Don't let anyone else than Nicolas get that stone, it's really important," I said.

"Why him?"

"You mean the philosopher stone," she said.

"That doesn't exist," my guard said.

I walked past him and seize the sword Irina had left on the floor. He was startled but nothing more. I was expecting him to run and open the door to his friends any minutes.

"Why didn't you kill me?"

"Can you do anything else than ask questions?" Irina said.

"He is a bit uneducated," I answered in his defense. I needed to get Alexei back to his human sense before freeing him and that could take a long time. The philosopher stone would only restore him in his normal state and at this time of the month, normal meant, wolf. Bad, uncontrollable, human-eating wolf.

"Well let me educate you a little, you-bad, we happy when you're not here so get lost and stop getting in our way," Irinas said.

She was back at totally being herself and that was something I really enjoyed.

"What are you looking for?" She asked.

"They gave him something and I need to figure out what it is," I said. "That might take time."

"That we don't have, the door won't hold for ever," she said.

Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

 

"I'll give you a choice," Irina's body had another spasm but the rosiness was coming back to her checks. "You can either go open that door and let them in, I won't stop you but I won't spare you when I'm done with them. Or you can help me take my friend and this little girl to safety."

"And then, what would you do?"

"I'll make sure there is no more useless death in this town, no more dragon hunting, no more wolf hunting, no more vampire torture," I said.

"Why should I believe you?" my guard asked.

"Because he is a terrible liar," Irina said.

"Take a deep breath, are you all right?" I asked.

She sat down and pushed my arm away.

"I hate that thing," she said. "But I feel better. What is it?"

"The best discovery of Alchemy," I said,

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 423

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. "Imagine that you are strong and healthy and that you can run like that first night we met," I said.

"Before you bite me?"

"Yes, before that," I took the philosopher stone out and place it next to her temple. I wasn't sure why it hadn't work it's magick on her when she had it in her pocket but this time I was going to make it touch her bare skin.

The rare light of the candle reflected on the reddish liquid of the philosopher stone. Irina took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

"I'm not scared," she said.

"Of course you are not, you are very brave, a little reckless even," I said.

She laughed. I place the philosopher stone near her temple and her body had a spams as the Jägers started to hit the door.

"What are you doing to her?" my guard asked.

"It won't take long, then I'll take care of the wolf," I said.

"What are you doing to her?"

He was going crazy.

"I don't like him but I don't want him to die here," she said.

"He won't die and we won't die either, I'll get you both out of here," I said.

"Why are you doing that?" My guard was back up, with the blow he had received on his head while flying away I was rather impressed. "Why are you helping a vampire and why are you helping a human and a wolf?"

"Are you an idiot?" Irina said. "He is all I have, that's why, if not for him I'd be dead, or changed into a sex slave by my step father."

"Stay away," I said. I took Irina in my arms again.

My guard stopped coming closer and looked at us from where he was standing, I don't know which was stronger in his vein, fear or curiosity.

"Irina, I want you to imagine that you are healing, that all your blood is being restored, can you do that for me?" I asked.

"I'm not sure," she said.

I ran to the door and made sure nobody would be able to get in from the outside. I needed to fix Irina and Alexei enough to get them out of here without risking their life. The situation had taken a turn for the best but also for the worse as I didn't have only Alexei to save anymore but also Irina.

When I returned near her she was trying to slice the cord from Alexei wrists without cutting him.

"Stay away from him, he is dangerous," I said and took her away.

I looked at Alexei and pressured his chest to make the extra blood and mucus oppressing his chest get out. He started to breath more easily but he still had this bad injury in his brain making blood leak from his ear.

"Why?"

"He is a werewolf and they chocked him into transforming himself back into a human but his mind is still the one of an animal," I said.

"But I'm not afraid of werewolf," she said.

"He is not like me, he is different and dangerous, trust me," I said.

"I didn't know how to use it but it made me feel a little bit better, somehow," she said. "They came and they killed them, she made me hide in your room and said that they wouldn't come there so I gathered everything you had and went through the window to get the horses but I wasn't strong enough to attach them to the carriage, I only have the old one because he lowered himself to get me on, we cannot escape with only one horse but I didn't know what else to do."

"Hush, hush, keep your strength, we will talk about it later," I said.

I wanted revenge with every single bones in my body but I needed to get Irina and Alexei safe somewhere first.

"It's important, right, that thing," Irina said.

I took the philosopher stone and wrapped it in my handkerchief.

"The most important thing ever created by a man," I said.

"Then I'm glad you got it," she said, she cough some more blood.

"Stay here."
